What is an Herbalist?

While considered an old form medicine, herbalism is the forerunner of modern medicine. Benefits of Herbalism

The herbal products used by herbalists come from flowers, leaves, stems, and roots of various plants. Today, they are available on capsules, liquid extracts, teas, and tablets after undergoing safe, natural processing. Herbalists choose to use cures or tonics extracted from a part of a whole plant. These tonics should have all the biochemical constituents of the part of the plant.

Herbalists believe that using cures from a part instead of the whole plant is better as it has all the active and naturally-balanced constituents within it. As such, it will be great in aiding the body, mind, and spirit to have better health, but in a less invasive way compared to modern medicine. Another advantage that an herbalist offers is tailored treatment based on the need of the client.

As one of the old forms of alternative medicine, herbalism is holistic. It sees health to be a client having a positive state of wellbeing, which means their body, mind, and spirit should be balanced. It doesn’t only mean having the absence of illness. Consulting with an herbalist allows the client to experience a treatment designed to stimulate his/her body’s innate ability for self-healing.
